Julia Bentley

Julia Bentley is a bilingual French and English actor from the Midlands.

She began acting with the Birmingham Young REP company at the age of 15 and was on their Young Playwrights programme.

During her time at East 15 Julia received the Tom Bennett Comedy Award in 2020 for her performance of John Behan in Carl Heap’s Anatomy of The Gun and was selected as one of the Sam Wanamaker Finalists.

In 2019, she took her one woman show Man Number Five to The Edinburgh Fringe, where it was described as ‘Moving. Pacey. Everything you want from a one hander’ and was transferred and adapted to screen in lockdown for the Bradford Digital Fringe in 2020. She also performed her stand-up monologue ‘I Don’t Really Do Condoms’ at Etcetera Theatre’s online comedy night in 2021, performing it again at a comedy night called Aunt Flow’s Fight Club in person again after graduation.

In her final year, Julia co-founded, with fellow co-artistic director Elan Butler, her theatre company Sober Riot Theatre and has produced work for them at theatre’s including; The Hope Theatre, The Pleasance Theatre, The Old Red Lion Theatre, The Theatre Deli, Warwick Arts Centre and in September, The Nottingham Playhouse.
