Michael Mullen

NEWS:
We are delighted to announce that our client Michael Mullen is cast as Sorrow in the Irish National Opera’s moving new staging of Madama Butterfly — a co-production with Scottish Opera, presented in association with Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

Celebrated by critics for its emotional honesty and modern clarity, INO’s Madama Butterfly is being hailed as opera at its most human:

“Opera is an imperfect art form… Yet at its core lies integrity and heartfelt humanity… Not so INO’s Madama Butterfly… Puccini’s conspiracy of emotional intensity undulates with new freshness. An opera for all time.”

And the reviews for Michael are exceptional:

“The silent part of adult Sorrow, played by actor Michael Mullen, is full of command…”Irish Independent

“A triumphant production of a great opera… rescued from a sea of anachronisms by a clear and intelligent vision.”Irish Independent

Huge congratulations to Michael — a commanding and deeply affecting performance in a timeless masterpiece.

anna Fox, the nurse who listens patiently to Grant’s developing theories and constantly pours cold water on them, adds dramatic tension and a lot of humour.
